Whatever the festive season means to you, this time of year sees most of us taking time out from our normal busy schedules and spending more time with those that we love.

However, in today’s world, although technology has connected us more than ever before, many of us are separated from loved ones by thousands of miles and being lonely during this traditional time of togetherness is a reality for people all over the world.

At the last Holistic London Expo in November I gave a presentation to demonstrate that we are all connected and can communicate and influence each other without needing to be in direct contact.

This is now the basis of much of my work, both in terms of how I am able to influence change in the bodies and minds of my clients but also in terms of how I can teach them to influence others by making further changes in their lives and leading by their own positive example.

Over ten years ago I had a major spiritual awakening in my own life, which massively expanded my inner vision and helped me uncover an ability to heal which I have been developing ever since.

In the early years after receiving this gift I experimented with distant healing out of necessity, because I couldn’t be with the people I wanted to help the most, and despite the fact that I wasn’t exactly sure of what I was doing, I achieved amazing results.

Today I have developed a more defined structure for this work because I have come to understand the science behind it and although I now realise that nothing is impossible, I am still amazed on an almost daily basis by what can be achieved through the power of belief.

The reality is that we all originate from the same source and are made of the same source material and the concept that we are somehow separate is merely an illusion.

The Principle of Quantum Entanglement states that parts of a whole that were once connected can interrelate and affect each other even over great distance and just as the cells throughout our own bodies are in constant communication so too can we communicate between each other through the Unified Field of Consciousness.

In fact as Derek Mills states in the incredible book, The 10 second Philosophy, “It is only through a lack of belief and application that we don’t benefit more from the connectivity of our Unified Field”.

So, this festive season, I ask that you suspend any remaining disbelief and apply the Principle of Quantum Entanglement to reach out to someone who can’t be with you and send a message of love.

Focus deeply on the person in question through your mind’s eye and remember your last physical connection as though you were with them now. Be specific in your wishes and speak the words out loud and I promise, whether you believe it or not, they will hear you!

As I write this, we are approaching the Winter Solstice, the shortest day of the year.  It’s dark, cold and damp.  The time of year when we are meant to draw in, rest and reflect on our year — the one that’s passed, and the one to come.

Our ancestors knew this and instinctively put down their tools in early November and withdrew indoors — to sleep, to eat and to socialise; to wait for the return of the light and the first signs of spring.  They gave themselves the very special gift of refreshing body and soul at a time when the earth, too, is resting and renewing herself for the bursting forth of life to come.

Yet that is not how we do it now. We’ve lost that connection to the earth and to the seasons.  So instead of allowing winter to touch us with its magic, we rush, rush, rush to the end of the year.  There are deadlines to complete before the Christmas break.  The holiday season is a major rush job in itself — send the cards, decorate the tree, get the presents, sort out the turkey, cook it, deal with the relatives as best you can….

And next thing you know, it’s all over and you feel somehow you’ve been gypped.   If you’re honest, Christmas has been a bit of a damp squib.  You’re still wired and tired.  Maybe even more stressed out than ever.

My deepest wish is that you use this time of the year to take a break and get back in touch with what matters.  To satisfy that deep ache in your heart for meaning and purpose.

When you buy things you desire, for yourself and your loved ones, it’s a way of satisfying that deep ache.  No more so than at Christmas, this season for giving.  And we do so…

On the mistaken belief that these things will satisfy us and satisfy those we love most.

Our houses are stuffed with stuff.  A little of that stuff is useful.  Most is just stuff.  Stuff that clutters our homes and clutters our lives.  Stuff that clogs our energy.   Stuff that stuffs us full of significance, yet leaves that deep ache unfulfilled.  So we buy more.  And more.

Human beings are wired for more.  “More, more, more”.  It’s one of the first things a child learns to say.  My wish this holiday season is that you seek and find

The More that Matters

Not more stuff.  More love, more affection, more joy, laughter and fulfilment.  More pleasure, more play, more happiness.  Even more pain where that is an opening for growth and development.  More purpose, more connection,

MORE LIFE.

And remember, the Winter Solstice is a very special time of the year — one our ancestors celebrated because it marked the day when the sun stands still in the sky.  It marks the return of the light.  At this special time of year, fill your heart with all the More that Matters to you.  Rest, refresh and renew yourself.  Then you’ll be ready to make your plans for a truly prosperous 2016, and realise them all.

How To Say "No" to Holiday Overindulgence

It’s that time of year again.  How many years have gone by when you’ve vowed NOT to overeat during the festive season, yet slowly but surely you have one too many mince pies, one too many Christmas dinners and far too many alcoholic drinks?

In next to no time, you hear those "oh so familiar" words in your self-talk. “Why did I eat three?”  “Why did I consume ALL the brandy sauce?”  “Why did I drink so much!”  Sound familiar?  If this is you, then you need to read on to finally, once and for all, stop this unwanted behaviour.

If you’ve heard me speak before, you have heard me talk about the power of the unconscious mind.  Modern brain science shows that the unconscious mind is 1,000 times more powerful than the conscious mind, which means our subconscious mind is running the show.

Now that the festive season has started and you’ve made every promise to yourself not to indulge, that is your conscious mind speaking.  The conscious mind is responsible for your goal-setting and planning for the future, so you may set the intention with your conscious mind NOT to indulge, but you’re setting yourself up for failure.

So what can you do?  Here is an exercise you can do before each and every unwanted eating opportunity:

Imagine you are watching your favourite programme and someone rings your doorbell.  You don’t want to miss any of the juicy action so you press the pause button on your remote control.  That is what you must learn to do with your impulse to over-indulge.  I want you to learn to press the pause button on your unwanted eating behaviour and bring your awareness to the situation.

Brain research shows there are 3 seconds between reaction and responding, so ask yourself “What are the consequences of putting that food in my mouth?”

Think of how you can respond in a way that serves you rather than beats you up.  According to "davidje", meditation and stress management expert, at this point you need to reach for SODA. No, not the sweet sugary kind but the following acronym:
  • Stop:  Tell yourself to stop what you’re doing right away.
  • Observe:  Float to the top of the ceiling, or clouds and look down and observe your eating behaviour
  • Detach:  Put a physical space between you and the unwanted eating behaviour
  • Awaken:  To the best version of you.  Ask yourself, "What would Buddha, Jesus or the best version of me do right now in this situation?"

Doing SODA helps you to take spontaneous right action, think spontaneous right thoughts and speak spontaneous right words.

Do this each time you have the urge to grab another mince pie over the holiday season and to help you tune into your own inner wisdom.
